Meeting of the minds, Ed Mason and Wayne Standford. Ed Mason was instrumental in surveying the site for our field. Both of them put in a lot of their free time.

Grooming the Slope

Grooming on the East side of the runway looking West.

This required a lot of manual and physical labor, raking and grooming the slope. But this was required to create the grass runway that we all enjoy now.

Entry from Ridgecrest Drive

This was our first gate that was located at the entrance of Ridgecrest Drive, which is no longer there.

This was the second gate that we had to go through and is now are main gate. Notice the tree on the right of the gate which was eventually cut down. Also notice there was no storage shed. The white box that you see to right of the gate was our temporary power.

After all the hard work on the field, getting to fly on the new runway was a real treat. All the hard work was worth it.

Aileron Field Mascot

Our mascot Aileron was always watching over our progress. Aileron was probably saying
"Their goes the neighborhood".

Aileron was seen many times during the construction of the field. His offspring are still seen by the front entrance off Ridgecrest drive as you enter the field.

All of the Table Bases

All finished and ready for the cement.

The table tops were built separately in their own molds. We placed steel into the bottom of the table tops. So when they were installed on the base they could be welded on.

Special thanks to Bill Miller

Bill took several pictures of the field during its construction. These are just a few of the pictures that Bill has in his album. We have just shared some of the pictures from Bill's album.
For some of you that were involved in the construction of the Nampa Model Aviators field this was probably a walk down memory lane. For those of us that came later we should all appreciate the hard work that the original members did for all of us to enjoy.
