This required a lot of manual and physical labor, raking and grooming the slope. But this was required to create the grass runway that we all enjoy now. |

This was our first gate that was located at the entrance of Ridgecrest Drive, which is no longer there. |

This was the second gate that we had to go through and is now are main gate. Notice the tree on the right of the gate which was eventually cut down. Also notice there was no storage shed. The white box that you see to right of the gate was our temporary power. |

After all the hard work on the field, getting to fly on the new runway was a real treat. All the hard work was worth it. Does this look like Bill Miller? |

Looking west after one year now notice there are no tables, no shade cover or storage shed or toilet. Also notice the north slope was covered with grass. |

Our mascot Aileron was always watching over our progress. Aileron was probably saying

Aileron was seen many times during the construction of the field. His offspring are still seen by the front entrance off Ridgecrest drive as you enter the field. |

The table tops were built separately in their own molds. We placed steel into the bottom of the table tops. So when they were installed on the base they could be welded on. |
